Bass of the Week: St. Germaine Guitars Condor 5
Luthier Geoff St. Germaine of St. Germaine Guitars shared his latest bass build on the “Support Small Bass Builders” Facebook group, and it really caught my eye. This Condor 5 built for Gerald Kebreau features a sleek walnut body with a cocobolo top complemented by wenge and maple accent layers. Wenge and maple layers are also built into the walnut neck, which is fitted with a cocobolo fretboard.
All those chocolatey colors are accented with gold Mother of Pearl block inlays, gold Mother of Pearl side dots, gold frets, and gold Hipshot hardware. The Seymour Duncan NYC 5 dual coil pickups are matched to Duncan’s STC-3P preamp with coil select and active/passive switches.
Other interesting features include an extended 35-inch scale, 19mm string spacing at the bridge, and a bone nut.
