Cort Unveils GB-Modern Series Basses
Cort has once again expanded their bass lineup with a pair of new models called the GB-Modern 4 and GB-Modern 5. They call the four and five-string basses a blend of “timeless design and modernized features.”
The basses are built with a maple body core and paulownia wings for a lightweight feel and a poplar burl top in natural or charcoal gray finishes for flash. The four-string has an average weight of 7.7 pounds, while the five-string (which has a 35-inch scale) comes in around 8.3 pounds.
“Lightweight hardware further balances the GB-Modern bass guitars,” Cort writes. “The FCH (Full Contact Hardware) bridge by Babicz provides for increased dynamic range, improved sustain, and pitch stability. Its double saddle housing lock feature assures the string action and intonation adjustments remain secure, even when removing strings. The nut width of the GB-Modern 4 measures 1½ inches, while the GB-Modern 5 measures 1? inches. At the headstock, Hipshot Ultralite Tuners, with 20:1 tuning ratio and aluminum string posts and mounting nuts, further reduce weight and improve tuning accuracy.”
Finally, the GB-Modern series is fitted with a set of Nordstrand Big Single pickups matched to a MarkBass MB Instrument preamp.
The Cort GB-Modern 4 and 5 will be shipping soon with street prices of $1,499 and $1,599.
