Carly Simon Releases “Live at Grand Central” with Doug Wimbish

Carly Simon: Live at Grand CentralIconic singer-songwriter Carly Simon surprised the commuters of New York City in April 1995 when she led an unannounced concert in the middle of Grand Central Station. The occasion marked her first concert in 14 years, and it was filmed for a Lifetime Network TV special.

Now that concert has been released as an album called Live At Grand Central. Simon and her band dig into her catalog with “Anticipation,” “Nobody Does It Better,” “Coming Around Again,” and more. James Taylor even joins for “Mockingbird.”

The group is anchored by bass legend and session ace Doug Wimbish, whose résumé ranges from work with Sugarhill Gang to Madonna to The Rolling Stones. Many know him for his tenure in Living Colour, though the group had disbanded just months before this concert.

Wimbish supports the song with a huge tone and impeccable feel. Check out “Like A River”:

Live At Grand Central is available now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).

Doug is one of my favorites and I believe Living Colour is back in the studio working on new material. Can’t wait to hear it and see them live again!
