Paul McCartney Has Recorded with The Rolling Stones

With the passing of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts in 2021, the internet was ablaze with hopes of a supergroup between the surviving Stones and Beatles members. Now it seems at least part of that is coming to fruition.

Rolling Stone has reported that sources close to the band revealed the Stones have recorded a new song with bass legend Paul McCartney. The band has been working on a to-be-announced album with Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, who has worked with Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne, Miley Cyrus, and more.

The news of McCartney being on the new album was confirmed to CNN, saying he plays on just one track. Hopes for drummer Ringo Starr to be featured were dashed as the Stones spokesperson said it has “no Ringo Starr at all.” After Watts died, Keith Richards said, “You haven’t heard the last of Watts,” leading all to believe the next album would feature the late drummer.

While there has always been a public rivalry between the Beatles and the Stones, this doesn’t mark the first time they’ve worked together. The first Rolling Stones hit, “I Wanna Be Your Man,” was written by John Lennon and McCartney, and Jagger was on hand for the recording of “All You Need is Love.”

Many details of the new album are still under wraps, though it should be safe to assume longtime bassist Darryl Jones will continue to anchor the group. We’ll keep you updated with more details as they become available.
