Geddy Lee Reveals Memoir Title, Cover, and Release Date

Geddy Lee: My Effin' LifeAfter first teasing it in 2021, Geddy Lee has revealed the title and release date for his new memoir. My Effin’ Life is slated to be published on November 14th, 2023. The 512-page book, which was edited by Noah Eaker, covers his life in and out of the progressive rock trio Rush.

“He talks candidly about his childhood and the pursuit of music that led him to drop out of high school,” Harper Collins writes. “He tracks the history of Rush which, after early struggles, exploded into one of the most beloved bands of all time. He shares intimate stories of his lifelong friendships with bandmates Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart—deeply mourning Peart’s recent passing—and reveals his obsessions in music and beyond. This rich brew of honesty, humor, and loss makes for a uniquely poignant memoir.”

My Effin’ Life marks his second book, following the highly successful Big Beautiful Book of Bass. It began as a reaction to Peart’s passing in conjunction with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“My friend and collaborator on the ‘Big Beautiful Book of Bass,’ Daniel Richler, saw how I was struggling in the aftermath of Neil’s passing, and tried coaxing me out of my blues with some funny tales from his youth, daring me to share my own in return,” Lee said on Instagram in 2021.

My Effin’ Life will be available in hardback and eBook formats.

Geddy is indeed the best bass player I’ve ever heard. I play for hours a day try to sound just like him. He is my bass idol.
