Frowin Ickler: Intercontinental Raga

No Treble Frowin Ickler always wows us with each of his videos, and this one is so unique.

Filmed during a live solo bass concert on July 29th, here’s “Intercontinental Raga.”

“The composition is based on the Vakulabharanam Raga and is inspired by John McLaughlin with his great project Shakti. The energy and the call and response by the musicians blew me away,” Frowin shared. “I wanted to transport this energy into my solo performance. Maybe you can hear the “musicians” behind me :-). And at the end, the sound journey goes back to Europe. Imagine Paul McCartney and Wayne Shorter composed a piece together. My fantastic 6-string acoustic bass by Jens Schönitz sounds like a mixture between an Oud, a fretless bass, and an acoustic guitar. The Tanpura and the reverb soundscapes are a great foundation for the piece.”
