Andreas Schaerer & Kalle Kalima Release “Evolution” With Tim Lefebvre

Andreas Schaerer & Kalle Kalima: EvolutionTim Lefebvre is such an incredible talent, and one of his superpowers is being able to tastefully support any musical situation while still retaining his own sonic identity. He’s played with David Bowie, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Wayne Krantz and tons of other artists, but he always just the right thing for the moment.

Another example of that superpower is the new album by Swiss vocal acrobat Andreas Schaerer and Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima. Evolution is an intimate album that is somewhere between jazz and a singer/songwriter style. The trio creates a unique sound with Schaerer’s ethereal melodies and Kalima’s deep harmonic sense.

Lefebvre adds some grounding to Schaerer and Kalima’s airy spacious arrangements on both the upright and electric basses.

“We played with Tim for the first time at the big Jubilee concert celebrating 30 years of ACT. The chemistry was so good, we decided we would keep in touch. When I called him about ‘Evolution’, he didn’t hesitate for a second”, Schaerer remembers. “It was then really im-
pressive how quickly he could connect emotionally with the music. It’s crazy how he grooves on a track like ‘SloMo’, and how we were able to play ourselves into a frenzy over Kalle’s guitar track.”

Lefebvre also gets some time to shine on the upright with stirring intro for “Piercing Love”.

Evolution is available now digitally via iTunes, Amazon MP3, and more.
