The Blue Note Quintet, Featuring Matt Brewer, Announce Tour Dates
Blue Note Records will be celebrating their 85th anniversary in 2024. To do so, they’ve assembled the Blue Note Quintet, an all-star collective of Blue Note recording artists that will tour the U.S. from January through March. The band’s lineup includes pianist and musical director Gerald Clayton, alto saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, vibraphonist Joel Ross, drummer Kendrick Scott, and bassist Matt Brewer.
“Blue Note has been such a wonderful home for the community, for incredible musicians, for creativity, for all these years,” says Clayton. “You can’t help but think about all those masters, all those heroes that you’ve grown up listening to. To get a chance to pay tribute and try to carry some of that essence forward is truly just an honor.”
The tour kicks off January 18th at the St. Cecilia Music Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan and will dart back and forth from coast to coast over three months. The final date is scheduled for March 8th at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Brewer is a modern jazz master that has worked with a who’s who of artists: Greg Osby, Terence Blanchard, Aaron Parks, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and more.
