Squier Adds Active Jazz Models and 6-String to Affinity Series Basses
Fender has expanded the Squier Affinity Series with three new basses: the Affinity Active Jazz Bass, the Active Jazz Bass V, and the Jazz Bass VI. The entry-level lineup makes it easier for bassists to acquire an active bass and a six-string.
“This… bass lineup features player-friendly refinements such as a thin, lightweight body and a slim, comfortable ‘C’-shaped neck profile,” Fender writes. “Each model sports Squier® pickups and sealed die-cast tuning machines with vintage-style open-gear tuning machines for smooth, accurate tuning and easy restringing.”
The four-string bass has two variations: a Mystic Sea Foam Green finish with an Indian Laurel fingerboard or an Olympic White finish with a maple fingerboard. The Active Jazz Bass V only comes in black. Both the four and five-string basses have block inlays. For pickups, Fender opted for their Ceramic Noiseless Jazz Bass set. Their active controls include a stacked Bass/Treble knob for dialing in your EQ.
The Affinity Series Jazz Bass VI also comes in black but features an Indian Laurel fingerboard with dot inlays to mark its 20 frets. It has a pair of ceramic single-coil Jazz Bass pickups and passive electronics with a Volume/Volume/Tone control configuration.
The Squier Affinity Active Jazz Bass, Active Jazz Bass V, and Jazz Bass VI will be available this month for $329, $349, and $329, respectively.
