BEAT Tour to Be Livestreamed on November 10th
Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, Steve Vai, and Danny Carey have been tearing it up across North America on their Beat Tour, which sees the quartet performing music from King Crimson’s 80s era. The group has received requests for worldwide performances since they announced the trek in April. Guitarist Belew says that’s not possible at this time, but they’ve worked something up for the rest of the world to tune in.
“You can enjoy BEAT live from the comfort of your own home from anywhere in the world when the band performs a very special GLOBAL LIVESTREAM concert from The United Theater on Broadway in Los Angeles, CA on Sunday, November 10th at 8:00pm PST, only on VEEPS,” he shared on Facebook. “This concert will be captured by multiple cameras with audio mixed by multi Grammy and Emmy mixer BOB CLEARMOUNTAIN who mixed the livestream of the Foo Fighters Taylor Hawkins tributes in both the U.K. and U.S.”
Levin and crew have been performing songs from Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair. In our interview with the bass legend prior to the tour, he told us about relearning the material.
“I was a little bit late revisiting my parts from the ’80s, and some of them are damn tricky. I forgot that,” he said. “Many of them I’ve been playing ever since. ‘Elephant talk’ — I don’t have to practice that. That’s fine. I wasn’t thinking it would be easy, but I forgot the number of pieces with counter rhythms on the top of the stick and on the bass side in different time signatures. And then sometimes, singing harmony with Adrian at the same time in a third time signature or out of time. Technically, to do that, you’ve kind of got to just have it under your fingers so you don’t pay attention to the seven and six that you’re singing. [Laughs] Concentrating on singing in tune is always the best idea.”
The BEAT livestream will be exclusively on VEEPS for $24.99.
