Funky Fretless Magic: Remco Hendriks Teams Up with Legendary Drummer Jack Irons

Last summer, Remco Hendriks shared a jam on his new Stradi bass. Now he’s back with another funky fretless jam featuring legendary L.A. drummer Jack Irons. The former Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam member laid down a beat that inspired the bassist to dig into some fresh ideas.

“Having fun with some syncopated rhythms, breakdowns and laidback vibes, experimenting with the fretless possibilities of this amazing bass. Main focus is feel and groove, playing fewer notes can make timing more intense,” Hendriks explains. “Jack recorded his drums in his studio, and I recorded this take after playing with it for a while, really getting to know the nuances of his recording before shooting my final take on camera. It’s a lot of fun grooving on Jack’s excellent drumming, I’m grateful to have the chance to work with him on some very cool projects, more on that soon!”

In his time with No Treble, Kevin has met hundreds of amazing bassists and interviewed icons like Jack Casady, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, and more. He's a gigging bassist performing jazz in Northern Virginia and bluegrass with The Plate Scrapers up and down the East Coast. Kevin appreciates all genres of music, from R&B to metal and everything in between. Connect with Kevin on Facebook and check his performance schedule on his website.
