Scott Mulvahill Layers Groove and Harmony Live on his Upright DataBass in ‘Human Kindness’

Scott Mulvahill is doing something special here. In his latest video, “Human Kindness,” he’s performing solo with his custom DataBass, a MIDI-enhanced upright bass that lets him layer grooves, harmonies, and textures in real time. It’s all done live. No backing tracks. No edits. Just one guy, one instrument, and a lot of feel.

You might know Scott from his time with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. He played upright for them for over five years before stepping out on his own. Now he’s blending upright bass, songwriting, and tech in a way that’s entirely his own.

This song is thoughtful, the message is clear.
