Steve Uccello and David Cooper Orton Bridge Continents on Serene New Album “Ebbw and Flow”

Ebbw and Flow Cover

Bassist Steve Uccello has shared a new album called Ebbw and Flow with guitarist David Cooper Orton. With Uccello in the United States and Orton in Wales, the long-distance project has diverse interests, but that’s not where the intercontinental collaboration ends.

“In addition to David and myself, the album features Australian percussionist/composer/educator, Nat Grant – she plays some eclectic acoustic instruments and adds some electronics, too,” Uccello tells us. “It also features percussionist, John Nava, the band leader of the Latin jazz group I am in, and the last musical guest we have on board is ‘Violoncheloops’ from Mexico. He plays an NS Design electric cello with some electronics. The record spans over a lot of territory geographically and musically!”

Together, the musicians create a sense of serenity across seven tracks. Orton’s gorgeous finger-style guitar and Uccello’s beautiful, complementary double bass work set the foundation and atmosphere. His bass tone is recorded especially well, making this an album worth checking out.

Ebbw and Flow is available for download through Bandcamp.
