Darryl Jenifer Returns: Bad Brains Bassist Announces New Solo EP and Jazz Reimagining of “Sacred Love”

Darryl Jenifer and Vinyl EP

Bad Brains bassist Darryl Jenifer is returning with a new solo EP this fall. The punk legend will be delivering the sound of Washington D.C.’s hardcore scene with a brand new track called “F.A.L.S” as well as a new jazz version of the Bad Brains classic “Sacred Love” that will feature keyboardist John Medeski.

“This release is part of a new collaboration with Dark Matter Coffee that, in addition to a 7” vinyl of fresh recordings, includes limited-edition Bad Brains coffee bags and coffee cans, all highlighting Darryl’s original artwork!” 23punk reports.

The album and coffee collaboration will be launched at a concert at New York City’s The Bowery Electric. Jenifer will play with his new band Palm Beach with support from Honeychild & The Biz.

“Every adversity brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage,” the bassist states. “Positive Mental Attitude every day, let love lead the way.”

Jenifer co-founded Bad Brains in 1976 and has been one of its only consistent members, along with lead guitarist Dr. Know. He released his first solo album, In Search of Black Judas, in 2010.

Tickets to the concert are available through the Bowery Electric website.
