Ibanez Revives the Iceman Bass with Two New Models for 2026

Ibanez has announced a handful of new basses for 2026 ahead of the Winter NAMM Show, including the reintroduction of the Iceman Bass. The unique design, which is more associated with guitars, comes in two variants: the ICB620 and the ICB720FM.
The ICB620 “leans into the extreme aspects of the Iceman’s design,” Ibanez says, with a black and gold color combination that refers to its heavy metal roots. It okoume body is fitted with a three-piece maple neck completed by a bound Panga Panga fretboard and acrylic block inlays. Two Bartolini BH2 pickups are matched with an Ibanez 2-band EQ for tonal shaping.
Ibanez contrasts that with the ICB720FM, which sports a flamed maple top showing through a Cosmic Blue Star Burst Finish. “This premium bass is equipped with two massive sounding Nordstrand Big Break split coil pickups paired with an Ibanez custom 2-band preamp, and also features the security of Schaller S-Lock strap pins,” they write.
The Iceman body shape was first introduced in 1975 as part of the Artist Series, and it eventually received the “Iceman” name in 1978. It was created following the company’s “lawsuit” era of making clones of other popular brands and marks one of Ibanez’s earliest original designs.
The new Ibanez 2026 Iceman basses will be shipping soon, priced at $1,099 for the ICB620 and $1,1199 for the ICB720FM.
