Sire Unveils New Gen Marcus Miller Basses With Lighter Hardware and Reworked Electronics
Sire Guitars has refreshed its Marcus Miller basses with the New Gen series, which refines their V7, V7 Vintage, V3, and P7 models.
“The New Gen Series refines Sire basses with improved balance, updated neck ergonomics, stainless steel frets, lighter hardware, and reworked electronics for clearer response and consistency,” the company explains. “Familiar designs, thoughtfully upgraded—the New Gen delivers a more dependable playing experience.”
The Sire Marcus Miller V3 comes in four or five-string versions. Key updates include a switch from ceramic to Alnico pickups and a 2-band EQ with a streamlined four-knob control layout, replacing the V2’s 3-band EQ. “Subtle neck and body refinements with the Edgeless™ feature improve overall playing comfort, while a tinted maple neck finish adds a more premium, classic look,” they add.
The V7, V7 Vintage, and P7 all carry similar updates, including new neck and body profiles, Luminlay dot position markers, stainless frets (nickel for V7 Vintage), lightweight aluminum tuners, and revoiced pickups. Sire also writes that they’ve improved the weight consistency across the line.
The Sire New Gen basses carry prices between $499 for the four-string V3 and and $999 for the V7 Vintage with an ash body. They are scheduled to ship in August.
