Genzler’s New Magellan 800+ Bass Head Packs Major Upgrades Into 6.25 Pounds

Genzler Amplification Magellan 800+ Bass Amp

Genzler Amplification has revamped its flagship bass amp with the Magellan 800+, an 800-watt bass head that builds on the model introduced a decade ago. The new version offers “improved dynamic response and feel along with superior low-noise thresholds and increased dynamic headroom,” the company explains.

The list of updates is extensive. The Magellan 800+ has updated input circuitry, all-new drive circuitry, a new high-pass filter, a dual contour circuit, a four-band active EQ with two sweepable midrange frequencies, new op-amps, and an optional dual-function footswitch.

Other features include a headphone output, an effects loop, a tuner output jack, thermal-sensing variable-speed fan cooling, and a direct output interface. All in, the head weighs just 6.25 pounds.

The Genzler Amplification Magellan 800+ bass amp is available now for $1,199.

  1. I like this guy. He”s awesome and demos things fingerstyle and pickstyle. I can”t afford or need this gear but at least I know it exists. He’s as good as The Bass Whisperer demoing gear.
