Billy Sheehan Unleashes the Bass Line Behind Mr. Big’s “Green Tinted Sixties Mind”

Billy Sheehan has shared a bass playthrough of Mr. Big’s “Green Tinted Sixties Mind,” giving us a close up look at one of his coolest bass lines.

Sheehan performs the track on his signature Yamaha Attitude bass, which has been a major part of his sound for decades. Yamaha’s current Attitude Limited 3 carries several of his trademark features including dual pickups, stereo outputs, and a Hipshot D tuner.

“Green Tinted Sixties Mind” appeared on Mr. Big’s 1991 album, Lean Into It. Written by guitarist Paul Gilbert, the tune was the third track on the record and featured Sheehan alongside Gilbert, Eric Martin and Pat Torpey.

The playthrough is a great chance to hear (and see) how much Sheehan is doing underneath the guitar. There are chords, double stops, octave figures and plenty of little details that make the part move without getting in the way of the song.
