Watch Geddy Lee Handle Bass, Synths, and Vocals in This Full 1984 Rush Concert
RUSH recently released the full “Grace Under Pressure” Tour performance from Toronto on its YouTube channel. The show itself is from 1984, which puts this right in the middle of one of the band’s most ambitious eras.
This is hometown territory for Geddy Lee, and the workload is almost hard to process. He is handling bass, synths, and vocals throughout the set with ease. Another thing bass players will notice immediately is the headless Steinberger. It is not the instrument most people associate with Geddy, which makes this performance an especially interesting snapshot of that period.
The arrangements are massive and despite the age of the recording, the video and audio quality is surprisingly strong. This does not feel like digging through an old bootleg. And then there is Neil Peart. Every revisit to this era is a reminder that he was an icon whose playing, precision, and presence helped define what Rush became.
This is a long watch, but if you can, make time for the full show. If you only have time for one, Start Here!
