L7 Bassist Jennifer Finch Dies at 59
It’s another hard day in the music world. Just days after announcing her battle with brain cancer, L7 bassist Jennifer Finch has died. She was 59 years old.
The news was shared on her Facebook page.
“We are devastated to announce the death of our partner, sister, daughter, and friend Jennifer Precious Finch,” the post reads. “Jennifer’s impact on the world of music was seismic; her impact on our lives, even moreso. We appreciate everyone’s interest and concern, thank you for all the kind messages. We appreciate some space to heal privately during this difficult time.”
Finch was active in the Los Angeles and San Francisco punk scenes in the ’80s. She joined L7 in 1986 and stayed for a decade, rejoining once the band reunited in 2014, and is featured on five of their seven albums.
Tributes have been pouring in on social media. “Jennifer Finch changed the world for the better and inspired a lot of women and men, girls and boys to be who they know themselves to be,” said Joan Jett.
