Napalm Death Brings Grindcore to Tiny Desk With Matt Sheridan on Bass

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk series has hosted plenty of unexpected performances, but Napalm Death might be one of the most surprising.

The grindcore legends packed eight songs into a roughly 19 minute set, covering material from across their four decade career. Matt Sheridan handled the bass duties in place of longtime bassist Shane Embury, delivering the songs with a massive tone through a Warwick bass, Warwick head, and Darkglass 810 cabinet.  The guitar rig was equally ambitious, with John Cooke bringing a full half stack into the office. That is certainly overkill for a Tiny Desk performance but it fits Napalm Death perfectly.

We recently shared Flea and HONORA’s unique appearance on the series, and this is another great example of what makes Tiny Desk so much fun. Napalm Death is not the kind of band you would expect to see behind that desk, but the result is awesome all the same.
