Marcus Miller is one of those bassists you know who is playing with the first note. In this video, Marcus takes on the Bob James and David Sanborn classic “Maputo” from the “Double Vision” album.

Today, we have a killer video from bassist Walter Barnes, Jr. Walter starts the solo by locking in the groove with the drummer, and then kicks it in overdrive! He even quotes the classic “Sir Duke” with some phat low notes thrown in.

Jeff Lorber has been one of my absolute favorites for years. He’s also had one my favorite bassists – Nate Phillips – in his band for many years. Here’s Lorber and his band performing “Night Sky” live, with Nate throwing it down on that Bossa bass.

One of my favorite bass players, Frank Brunot, has released a new single entitled, “Friday Night.” I really love the catchy melody line. There is also a really nice breakdown with a Wurli solo.

Alex Al is THAT DUDE. With a list of credits a mile long, every time we see Alex’s name on records we know we are in for a treat. Here he is performing solo at the EBS Booth at a past NAMM Show.
