Former Procol Harum bassist Alan Cartwright has passed away. Although a cause of death was not given, he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer last year. He was 75 years old.

The legendary Francois Rabbath will be celebrating his 90th birthday this Friday with a special livestream. The bassist, who has changed the face of double bass pedagogy, will be performing on the International Society of Bassists’ Facebook Page with his son Sylvain at the piano.

Anthony Jackson’s incredible bass playing is the subject of a new transcription book called “The Artistry of Anthony Jackson”. Written by Andy Robertson, it offers ten detailed transcriptions of the six-string pioneer’s bass lines.
