Bassist Andrea De Donato sent me this video of a performance he did with vocalists Lucia Sargenti and Stefano Ferraro. The trio perform Al Green’s hit “Let’s Stay Together” with some excellent bass work by Andrea.
The last time we featured VoBa Sound Experience, they performed Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed and Confused”. Bassist Roberto Pace shared the duo’s latest, with them performing their unique take on The Beatles tune “Eleanor Rigby”. Roberto is joined by vocalist Chiara D’Emilio, who also handles the loops on this tune.
Bassist Jonathon Burgess sent us this video of his project with vocalist Sophie Aked. In this video, the cover Gregory Porter’s terrific tune, “No Love Dying.” We always dig the bass and vocal duos, and this one is no exception.
Tim Carey shared his latest video, and as always, we were quite impressed. “It’s a duo version of ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ featuring 17 year old Serena Dominguez on guitar and vocals,” Tim shared. “We stuck to the same basic arrangement as the original but added an extra solo section so we could both have some fun on the changes. Marcus Miller’s “Blast” is one of my favorite tunes. So I was thrilled to see this trio – anchored by bassist Leslie Johnson – performing their own version. Joined by guitarist Dave Giraldo and drummer Jay Jackson, Leslie not only handles the great bass line, he also plays keys on the track. Dig it.
Chris DeAngelis is the super talented bassist for Kung Fu and The Breakfast, but he also makes time to create insanely good solo covers (which he calls the HoodRat Sessions) in his spare time. Case in point: this clip of his take on Radiohead’s “Sit Down. Stand Up. (Snakes and Ladders)”. “HoodRat Sessions continues with a tribute to the best...
Time for another great video by Jesús Rico Pérez, who once again covers a Michael Manring tune. Here’s Jesús’s adaptation of “Sung To Sleep”, from Manring’s 1986 album, Unusual Weather.
This may be Zander Zon’s most ambitious effort to date. Zander plays three basses in this latest video, where he is once again joined by vocalists KJC, who also provide piano and violin on the track. Here’s their take on Coldplay’s “Hymn for the Weekend”.
Spare Parts sent us their latest, and this time is a little different than we’ve seen from them previously. Filmed by Jody Michael Miller, here’s the trio anchored by Colin Scott performing their cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Four Sticks”.
The Dillinger Escape Plan’s songs are extremely heavy and notoriously complex, so when bassist Michal Jahoda sent in a drum and bass cover of the song “Panasonic Youth”, I wasn’t sure how it would come out. “If you like strange grooves and weird solos, our new cover video is something for you,” Jahoda wrote. “All guitar and bass parts from...
