Ghost-Note has announced a world tour from June through November. The band, which is helmed by Snarky Puppy percussionists Robert “Sput” Searlight and Nate Werth, will once again feature the eclectic grooves of MonoNeon.
MonoNeon shared this epic clip on Facebook, with a performance he did with drummer Larnell Lewis and Ghost-Note for Zildjian LIVE! “Change Your Mind” is a funky tune, and MonoNeon causes the sax player to have bass face in this one!
MonoNeon has released a new single called “Can We Start Over? Unblock My Number.” It’s solidly in MonoNeon’s style, but this is the kind of track fans of Prince and Parliament Funkadelic will be able to sink their teeth into.
Eric Gales has proven himself to be a wizard on the guitar, but on his new album “The Bookends” he chose to push himself as a vocalist. Plus, it’s anchored with bass work by Gales himself as well as heavyweights MonoNeon and Orlando Thompson.
Dywane “MonoNeon” Thomas has shared his latest album, entitled “My Feelings Be Peeling.” The album continues the bassist’s unique brand of lo-fi funk and jaw-dropping bass playing while expanding his sound with new collaborations.
We have another jaw-dropping video premiere for you today, this time from the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra. The band, led by steel pan player Scales, has always been stocked with killer bassists. (Just check the archives.) This live performance of “The Trap” features band member E’Lon JD with special guest Dywane “MonoNeon” Thomas, Jr., who also appeared on the song for...
Jonathan Scales has always had great bassists for his band and his new album only ups the ante. Pillar, which is the steel pannist’s third Fourchestra album, features his full-time bassist E’Lon JD as well as low-end guests Oteil Burbridge, Victor Wooten, and Mononeon. Burbridge anchors the opening track, “Fake Buddha’s Inner Child,” while the latter two are featured together...
Ghost-Note has announced a new North American tour in support of their latest album, Swagism. Formed by Snarky Puppy percussionists Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth, the band will be filled out by a killer cast including keyboardists Xavier Taplin and Vaughn “V-Keys” Henry, guitarist Peter Knudsen, saxophonist Jonathan Mones, and bass wizard Dywane “MonoNeon” Thomas, Jr. The trek will...
MonoNeon can make a killer groove out of anything. In a hilarious example, he took a viral clip of Walter Geoffrey the Frenchie’s unusual crying in a parking lot and made it music. MonoNeon mimics the dog’s outrageous vocalization before putting it to a beat that will get your head bobbing.
MonoNeon and John Medeski performed at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans on April 30th. The band also included Daru Jones, DJ Logic, Jermaine Holmes, Skerik, and Robert Walter. The group debuted at the same location in 2017, and after the response, they decided to do another show. We hope this becomes a regular thing!
MonoNeon never ceases to impress us here at No Treble HQ. In this clip, the bassist adds his funky skills to the instrumental version of J Dilla’s “Clap Your Hands.”
My friend Darryl Anders shared this on Facebook yesterday saying, “This is my favorite video by Dywane MonoNeon Thomas Jr. Mad skills. Great voices too.” This one knocked me out too.
