Aaron Gibson shared another video of his in-progress songs. The music of his youth inspires this one, and it is a beautiful solo bass and vocals tune.

South African music is almost always anchored by a joyous, exciting bass line. Shane Cooper celebrated one of the styles in his composition “Kucheza,” which he performs here with his band Mabuta.

Guitarist Matteo Mancuso recorded some videos featuring music from his new album, “The Journey,” with bassist Riccardo Oliva and drummer Gianluca Pellerito. “Samba Party” is such a great tune that reminds me of the music I grew up with.

Rocco Palladino kicks things off in this live performance of “Tioga Pass,” with Yussef Dayes. I love the bass intro, and I love how it morphs into an epic groove.

Cory Wong just dropped this live video from his band’s performance at Jazz in Marciac, and this one is killer. Yohannes Tona is the bassist on this date. Enjoy 10+ minutes of “Sidestep,” which has it all.

Back in the 80s and 90s, I nearly wore out my Eric Johnson albums, including Ah Via Musicom. So it was cool to see this video pop up in the feed from an April 2023 performance of "Desert Rose" at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas.
