Columbia Releases “Weather Report: The Complete Columbia Albums 1971-1975”

Weather Report: The Complete Columbia Albums 1971-1975

Columbia Records “Complete” box set series rolls on this summer with the introduction of another Weather Report-focused release.

Weather Report: The Complete Columbia Albums 1971-1975 kicks off with the legendary group’s original line up, anchored by bassist Miroslav Vitous, and ends up the group’s second incarnation, with bassist Alphonso Johnson.

The set packages together remastered versions of Weather Report’s first six albums, with the very first U.S. release – in any format – of the 2-LP set, Live in Tokyo. The other five releases in this set include bonus tracks.

An extensive essay by journalist Bill Milkowski is also included in the book, featuring many of the musicians who were in the various forms of the band over the span of 1971-75.

As we previously reported, Columbia dedicated another box set to Weather Report’s years with Jaco Pastorius, with the release of Weather Report: The Columbia Albums 1976-1982.

Weather Report: The Complete Columbia Albums 1971-1975 Album List:

  • Weather Report (1971) – plus one bonus track
  • I Sing the Body Electric (1972) – plus one bonus track
  • Live in Tokyo (1972, double-CD) – first ever U.S. release
  • Sweetnighter (1973) – plus one bonus track
  • Mysterious Traveller (1974) – plus two bonus tracks
  • Tale Spinnin’ (1975) – plus two bonus tracks
