Verdine White’s “Playing the Bass Guitar” Re-released
Cherry Lane Music has reissued the method book written by Earth, Wind & Fire bassist Verdine White and the late Louis Satterfield, originally published in 1978.
Playing the Bass is updated with a new cover, spans 136 pages, and includes two companion CDs.
The book kicks off with approaches to reading music, holding the bass, and progressively covers the notes on the fretboard, with slap basics, scales, thumping and popping in octaves, moving up the neck, syncopation and strength and endurance.
The companion CDs offer audio tracks for each of the example, so you can follow along in your studies.
The music is presented in both standard notation and tab.
