Foo Fighters’ Bassist Tours With Solo Side Project, Album Due Soon
Foo Fighters’ bassist Nate Mendel is hitting the road alone this spring. He’s touring to promote the release of If We Kill This Thing We’re All Going to Eat for a Week by his solo side project, Lieutenant.
The album comes out on March 10 and Mendel’s first Lieutenant date is March 18 at SXSW in Austin. Mendel is the primary guitarist, songwriter and singer on the record, which, according to Stereogum, also features Jeremy Enigk (played with Mendel in the now-defunct Sunny Day Real Estate) and Foo Fighters’ bandmate Chris Shiflett. The Lieutenant live band has included members of Snow Patrol and Fleet Foxes.
You can hear a taste of the record on the track “Rattled”:

I like the fact that Mendel is exploring his artistic capabilities, but I hope he stays with Foo Fighters. I just found their upcoming tour schedule on rocktotick.com and so far it looks promising.
