Fender Unveils New Mustang Bass Model
Fender has reimagined some of their classic models to create the new Offset lineup of instruments. “We took timeless designs with an asymmetrically offset waist, added new pickups for heavyweight tone, updated the neck profile and splashed bold colors on these scrappy flyweights,” the company writes.
The series includes a new take on the Mustang with the Mustang Bass PJ. The short-scale bass, which was originally released in 1964, is now fitted with a P Bass pickup in the neck position with a J Bass pickup in the bridge position. A three way switch toggles between the pickups with volume and tone knobs to round out the controls.
It also has a modern “C”-shaped maple neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard and 19 frets. Other features include a four-saddle string-through-body bridge, an engraved neck plate, and vintage-style tuners.
