Gail Ann Dorsey will be taking part in a series of tribute concerts celebrating the life and music of music icon David Bowie. The “Celebrating David Bowie” concerts will feature Bowie band alumni performing across the world with shows in London, New York City, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Tokyo. Dorsey, who played with Bowie for many years, made the announcement on Facebook.
“2016 is finally behind us, and I am starting off the New Year taking part in a short series of concerts honouring my dear friend and mentor, David Bowie on the one year anniversary of his birthday and his passing,” Dorsey wrote. “Until now, it has been very difficult for me to entertain the idea of performing David’s music again, but in searching my heart and finding a way to come to terms with this on an emotional level, my decision to take part in this event is because of you, the fans… it will give me an opportunity to say “thank you” to the dedicated fans of David’s music who have not only supported David for so many decades, but who have also been a enormous and loving support of myself and all of the members of David’s bands.”
Other musicians slated for the tour include Adrian Belew, Mike Garson, Earl Slick, Mark Plati, Gerry Leonard, Sterling Campbell, Catherine Russell, Holly Palmer, and Carmine Rojas. Proceeds from the band will benefit youth arts education programs worldwide.
