In Memoriam: Kerry Turman

Longtime Temptations bassist Kerry Turman passed away April 23rd from what are believed to be natural causes. He was 59 years old. The classic soul band announced the news on their Facebook page.
“The Temptations lost a dear member of our family, as bass player Kerry Turman has passed away,” they wrote. “Rest In Peace, much love, much respect.”
Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, the bassist first came to notoriety alongside Roy Ayers in the late ’70s as part of his stellar band. After several years with Ayers and a stint with drummer Gene Dunlap, Turman joined the already legendary Temptations in the late ’80s. Held down the low end for the group up until his passing. The Temptations were on the road with The Beach Boys for the “Surf & Soul” Tour when he died.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Kerry Turman.
