Stone Temple Pilots to Play “Purple” Every Night of Upcoming Tour
On the 30th anniversary of their chart-topping album Purple, Stone Temple Pilots have announced a tour to celebrate their iconic release. The summer outing will feature the band performing Purple in its entirety each night, including the hit songs “Interstate Love Song,” “Vasoline,” and “Big Empty.”
Bassist Robert DeLeo has been sharing some cool background to the songs from the album on his Instagram page.
“Going back as a musician one of the accomplishments we all try to achieve is to simply play outside of our home town….to travel, experience life, write and spread the word of our music,” he wrote. “Traveling to Atlanta to record at Southern Tracks Studio with producer Brendan O’Brien and engineer Nick Didia got us out of our hometown and into a whole new recording environment. Sometimes, these environments spark new Ideas, and magical things happen sonically. This is how I remember Purple.”
The trek, dubbed the “Jubilee Tour,” will be a co-headlining tour with +LIVE+ featuring touring bassist Chris Heerlein.
