Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood Trade Bass Duties on The Smile’s “Cutouts”

The Smile has returned with their third studio album, entitled Cutouts. The band – comprised of Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood with drummer Tom Skinner – recorded all the music during the sessions for their previous album, though the new record has a much different feel.
“‘Cutouts’ was recorded in Oxford and at Abbey Road Studios during the same period of time as Wall Of Eyes,” XL Recordings explains. “The album features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra and the album art was painted during the recording process by Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke.”
Yorke and Greenwood trade off bass duties throughout the album leading to a nice variety of textures. Check out the frenetic bass and guitar work on “Zero Sum”.
Cutouts is available now on CD, vinyl and as a digital download (Apple Music, Amazon Music), and more.
