Mayones ORI Bass Debuts at NAMM 2025: Multi-Scale Innovation with Japanese-Inspired Design

Mayones ORI Bass Mecha Blue

Polish guitar company Mayones has unveiled a new multi-scale bass model called the ORI. The model features some bold angles and contours inspired by folded paper.

“ORI takes its name from the Japanese art of origami, reflecting the bass’s sharp lines and modern aesthetics,” Mayones writes. “Just as origami transforms a simple sheet into intricate forms, the ORI bass transforms raw materials into a stunning instrument with impeccable sound and playability.”

The ORI is built with an ash body. Mayones utilizes wenge for its neck and fingerboard. Its scale runs from 34 inches to 37 inches, which they say provides superior tone and tuning possibilities.

Mayones fits the ORI with three Velvetrone GRIM pickups that feature neodymium magnets and are crafted in-house. A six-position switch lets you select the pickups being used. They feed into a Mayones Musashi Nitoryu preamp that, along with three-band EQ, has a built-in headphone preamp for practicing.

The company also took inspiration from a Japanese katana for their new Kissaki aluminum bridge with 3D brass saddles and steel inserts. Finally, Mayones inlaid their new “M” logo on the headstock to represent the modern evolution of their brand.

The Mayones ORI Bass comes in Mecha Blue, Gunmetal Grey, and Kitsune Orange. They will be shipping next month with prices around $3,971.
