Shinedown’s Eric Bass Steps Into the Spotlight With “I Had A Name” – A Deeply Personal Album

Eric Bass: I Had A Name

After months of anticipation, Shinedown bassist Eric Bass has released his debut solo album, I Had A Name. Bass wrote, recorded, and produced the entire effort, a concept album that introduces a dystopian world, exploring societal issues and internal struggles.

“I’ve spoken about my struggles with depression and neurodivergent issues before,” Bass states. “When I finished writing this record, I looked back at these characters I’ve created and realized I’d written the most autobiographical record of my life, which wasn’t conscious as I was writing it. The album is an epic odyssey. I don’t want mental health to be an ‘angle’ that obscures that, but I don’t mind talking about it. Anytime I talk about it, I hope it’s helpful to someone else.”

I Had A Name has huge soundscapes pinned together with some serious low end. After releasing the tracks “Mind Control” and “Azalia”, Bass has introduced a video for a new single, “Goodnight Goodnight”.

I Had a Name is out now on Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other streaming platforms.
