Tour News Got You Hyped? Watch Rush’s Xanadu Live and Remember Why

Rush just announced they’re heading back on the road for a 2026 North American tour, and that news alone is enough to send fans into a full prog rock tailspin. It feels like the perfect time to pull up one of their most jaw dropping performances, “Xanadu” live from the Montreal Forum in 1981.

This is Rush at full power. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson both break out their double neck instruments, Geddy on his Rickenbacker 4080/12 and Alex on his Gibson EDS 1275. The visual alone is legendary, but the sound they create together is something else entirely. It’s lush, intricate, and massive. Pure Rush magic.

Geddy’s tone in this performance is huge and beautifully alive. You can hear every detail of his right hand attack and his melodic phrasing as he weaves around Neil Peart’s drumming. Watching it now, you’re reminded just how fearless this band was and how much they still inspire players today.

Rush is back, and if this tour carries even a fraction of the energy from Exit… Stage Left, we’re all in for something special.
