Watch: Alabama Shakes Share Updated Live Cut of “This Feeling,” Powered by Zac Cockrell on Bass

Alabama Shakes just dropped a new live version of “This Feeling” from their Forest Hills show, and it is an easy one to get lost in. The whole band feels loose and confident, and Brittany Howard delivers a vocal that carries the song without ever pushing too hard.

Zac Cockrell is holding down the low end with his vintage Fender Precision Bass running through a silver face Ampeg, and it sounds great. He is likely playing La Bella flats, which fits his tone here. The mix of that old P Bass, the flats and the Ampeg gives him a warm, round sound that screams classic vibe. He keeps things simple and steady, and it is exactly what the song needs.
