Nathan East’s First Signature Preamp Arrives: The Laney Digbeth DB-EAST-PRE

After unveiling a signature bass head with him last year, Laney Amplification has teamed up with bass icon Nathan East once again to unveil the DB-EAST-PR bass preamp. The pedal, which was unveiled at NAMM 2026, marks East’s first signature preamp.
It features the same preamp section of the DB-EAST amp, including dual inputs, FET and Tube channels, drive controls, a Tilt EQ, and more. The Drive control has a three-position switch for three distinct gain characteristics.
“There’s a lot of information packed in this little box,” East says.
Hear about the pedal and its creation from the man himself:
Laney also outfitted the DB-EAST-PRE with plenty of connectivity. The DI output is equipped with Laney Advanced Impulse Response (LA-IR), which is pre-loaded with East’s favorite IRS of his cabinets. A USB-C port allows for streaming audio and accessing the LA-IR app for loading IRs and updating. Other features include an effects loop, a tuner output, and a 3.5mm stereo aux-in jack.

He actually had one out a long time ago. Yamaha did it. NE-1. Really simple. 3 knobs. 1. Level. 2. Q either shallow, deep or flat. 3. Frequency.
