Thundercat Takes “Walking on the Moon” Into Orbit on New Release

This is our second look at Thundercat’s Amazon Music studio session, and he is still not coming back down anytime soon.

In this new release, “Walking on the Moon” floats in with that unmistakable Thundercat feel. Loose, dreamy, and just a little sideways, like the groove might drift off but never actually does. He is holding it all together on his signature Ibanez six string, running through an Aguilar rig that stays clean and warm. Chords, melody, movement, all living in his hands while he casually glides through it like gravity is optional. If you look closely, you will spot Willow in the background, just hanging, taking it in. A nice callback to the previous session we shared, where she stepped into the spotlight. Here, she lets Thundercat take the walk… or maybe the float.
