Proof That Taste Wins: Leland Sklar with Phil Collins, Live in 1990
This one is a serious throwback. Phil Collins live in Berlin, 1990, from the “Serious Hits Live” tour, and this time it is the full show. Over two and a half hours of peak era Collins with a band that is completely locked in. On bass is Leland Sklar. Solid, relaxed, and totally in control. He just makes everything feel right and is perhaps the coolest looking bass player alive. Sklar is a legend for a reason.
Clips from this show have been floating around for years, but this full version only recently surfaced, and it is worth the time. The band sounds huge, but it still breathes, which is not something you always get from productions at this scale. If you cant watch the whole 2+ hours, check out Who Said I Would – Sklar is rocking a 5 string Yamaha on that tune and it kicks!
