Joseph Patrick Moore’s EMP Project Recordings Resurface on New Remastered Collection
Blue Canoe Records has released Best of EMP Project, a remastered collection of trio recordings by drummer William Ellis, guitarist Shawn Perkinson, and bassist Joseph Patrick Moore. The album revisits songs from a spontaneous recording session in 2002 with no rehearsal. The trio would eventually part ways, making this a unique snapshot of a time in their lives.
“This music captures a moment before life pulled us in different directions — three musicians reconnecting with no expectations, just trust and instinct,” Moore said. “Remastering these recordings gave me the chance to hear that honesty again, and I’m excited to share it with listeners who may be discovering EMP Project for the first time.”
Moore, who currently serves as bassist and back-up-band leader for Cirque du Soleil’s Mystère in Las Vegas, fills out the low end with a mix of electric, fretless, and upright bass. No matter the instrument, he brings an unshakeable sense of groove to the table as the songs range from straight-ahead swing to Latin jazz to funk.
Check out “Wherever We Go,” which leans on the jazz funk side of the spectrum. Moore’s upright playing anchors the track, and he picks up the electric halfway through for a killer solo.
Best of EMP Project is available now as a digital download via Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other platforms.
