Geezer Butler Sounds Absolutely Colossal With Heaven & Hell at Wacken 2009

Heaven & Hell was one seriously heavy band.

This newly released 2009 performance from Wacken Open Air captures Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice delivering nearly an hour and a half of some of the heaviest music ever put on a stage. Heaven & Hell is the culmination of two incredible bands, bringing the crushing weight of Black Sabbath together with the power and drama of Dio.

Geezer is armed with his Lakland signature PJ bass here, and his tone is absolutely massive. His fingers dig into every riff while Iommi lays down those unmistakable walls of guitar. Add Dio at the front of the stage and Appice behind the kit and you are watching some of metal’s true godfathers at work.

The full set is presented in HD, making this an especially great way to revisit one of the great heavy bands of all time. This is about as close as it gets to the epitome of metal.
