J.T. Cure and Adam Blackstone Share Bass Duties on Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake’s CMA Performance
The CMA has officially released Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake’s now legendary performance from the 2015 CMA Awards on YouTube.
The pair performed “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Drink You Away” at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena in 2015, during a night that would change the trajectory of Stapleton’s career. He won all three CMA Awards for which he was nominated, including Album of the Year for Traveller.
There is plenty for bass players to enjoy here, too. J.T. Cure handles the bass duties for “Tennessee Whiskey,” appearing to play a Precision Bass with a Matchless rig visible behind him. Musical director Adam Blackstone then takes over for “Drink You Away,” playing a Fender Jazz Bass with a Gallien Krueger rig.
The whole band looks like they are having an absolute blast. There has to be something special about playing a set like this in front of a room packed with your peers, especially when everyone on stage knows they are in the middle of a great moment.
