Fender Refreshes American Professional Basses with V-Mod III Pickups

Fender has announced the next evolution of the American Professional series, which the company calls its flagship line of guitars and basses. The lineup includes updated instruments that retain the spirit of their distinct identities.
“Every update is rooted in the people who build the instruments, the experimentation behind their development and the player insight that helps Fender determine what to preserve, what to refine and what to rethink,” Fender writes.
The lineup, of course, includes the American Professional Jazz Bass and American Professional Precision Bass, each coming in four- and five-string versions. Similar to the rest of the series, the basses feature new V-Mod III pickups, which Fender explains are custom-voiced for “balanced output, string to string note clarity, and a unique touch sensitivity.” Other general improvements include redesigned HiMass Modern Pro Bridges, ClassicGear Precision potentiometers, and new neck shapes. Fender also announced the bass lineup will include left-handed models coming in Spring 2027.
Hear Jon Button demo the Jazz Bass starting at the 5:35 mark in Fender’s launch video:
The Fender American Professional Jazz Bass and Precision Bass each come in Aged Cherry Burst, 3-Color Sunburst, Natural and Olympic White with a maple fingerboard as well as 3-Color Sunburst, Dark Night, Oxblood and Olympic White with a rosewood fingerboard. Finally, the Precision Bass V will be available in 3-Color Sunburst with a maple fingerboard as well as Dark Night and Olympic White with a rosewood fingerboard.
