Three Rainbow 1979 Live Sets Available in One Package
When Rainbow hit the road in 1979, the band looked different. Singer Ronnie James Dio had exited and Graham Bonnet had taken over vocals for the Ritchie Blackmore-led band.
Guitarist Blackmore’s Deep Purple bandmate, bassist Roger Glover, had also newly joined the fold as both bassist and producer, and the reformed group recorded a commercially successful album, Down to Earth.
Music from three shows — Denver, Long Island, and Chicago — from the tour supporting the album, which included favorites like “Since You Been Gone” and “All Night Long,” is now available in the Down to Earth Tour 1979 box set. The special package from Purple Pyramid Records features extras like a metal bottle opener/key chain, embroidered fabric patch, button, and guitar pick, as well as a 28-page book.
The Down to Earth Tour 1979 set is available on CD and as a digital download (iTunes and Amazon MP3).
