Juan Alderete and Halo Orbit Preview New Music

Halo Orbit

Juan Alderete has teamed up with guitarist/synth player suGar Yoshinaga and drummer Mark Guiliana for a killer new project called Halo Orbit. The trio is spread across the globe with the Alderete in Los Angeles, Guiliana in New York, and Yoshinaga in Tokyo. Their combination of influences and styles create a sound they describe as blending “futuristic rock, a volatile landscape of overdriven dub punctuated by textural nuances and delicate arrangements, and the sweet air of unpredictability.”

If you’re wondering what that sounds like, check out the trio’s first release from their upcoming album. “Trieste” showcases Alderete’s fretless work and insanely good use of effects. The track builds from spacey, lyrical bass lines into a dream-like groove supported by Guiliana’s ride and Yoshinaga’s muted plucking.

Halo Orbit’s debut album is due out February 3rd on Alpha Pup Records.
