Hal Leonard Publishes Second Edition of The Rickenbacker Electric Bass Book
If you’re a fan of classic basses, you’ll want to check out the new edition of The Rickenbacker Electric Bass: 50 Years as Rock’s Bottom. Updating on the first edition released 2013, the new version adds 16 bonus pages with up-to-date information on the latest models plus more photos of artists and custom-built Rickenbacker basses.
“With the introduction of the two-pickup 4001 model in 1961, the Rickenbacker bass became a phenomenon,” a press release states. “The Beatles’ use of Rickenbacker instruments was pivotal: teen groups everywhere wanted to have the same instruments the Beatles used so they could achieve the “right” sound. With its ultra-modern design that made the classic Fender precision bass look downright old-fashioned, the Rick quickly became a darling of progressive bands that loved its look as much as its different sound.”
The 162-page book is written by Paul Boyer and traces the Rickenbacker bass’s origins from its prototypes to its variations and popularity. It’s available now for $18.16.
