Fodera Unveils the Masterbuilt Butterfly Bass

Fodera Masterbuilt Butterfly Bass Main

Fodera has revealed the latest in their top of the line Masterbuilt series with the Butterfly. The one-of-a-kind bass is inspired by the company’s butterfly themed models and uses the Imperial body shape as a “canvas.”

“Using over 200 pieces of varying natural materials such as Gold Pearl, Mother of Pearl, Black Pearl, and various colored stone, each piece was carefully selected for its bold color and figure,” Fodera writes. “The inlay features various species of butterflies such as the monarch, imperial, and emperor butterfly cascading from the headstock down to the ramp.”

To build the bass they used African Mahogany for the body with an alder tone block. The top wood is flame koa, which is matched with koa pickup covers and a matching back plate. Its five-piece ash and wenge neck is topped with a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. Electronics include Fodera/Duncan Dual Coil pickups in a 70’s position as well as a Fodera custom 3-band preamp.
