Mel Bay Releases “Extreme Bass Grooves” Instructional Book
Mel Bay has published a new bass instructional book by Peter Washburne entitled Extreme Bass Grooves. The 40-page book is designed to engage your creativity while exploring the fretboard.
“Each groove features unique fingering concepts and techniques that will enhance your fretboard knowledge, add new licks to your repertoire, and fuel your desire to become a better bass player,” Mel Bay shared. “More than simply bass studies, these repetitive, alternately aggressive or hypnotic figures or licks encourage improvisation and would make a refreshing addition to a collegiate recital program.”
Each example is written in both standard bass clef notation and tablature. The book also comes with access to online audio of 18 bass and percussion tracks for improvisation.
Extreme Bass Grooves is available now for $14.99.

I bought the Extreme Bass Grooves book from Amazon and looked forward to the promised 18 on-line bass solo videos which can be watched by following the link given in the front of the book. Alas only one video is available on the site. An hour of Youtube searching came up with another five. Without the videos, this book is not what it is advertised to be. The videos are an important part of the purchase, so without them it is a waste of time and money. I have now returned the book. Very disappointing.
